Prosthetic valve endocarditis caused by Scedosporium apiospermum.
Scedosporium apiospermum, the asexual state of Pseudallescheria boydii, is increasingly recognized as an opportunistic pathogen. We report a case of prosthetic valve endocarditis caused by this organism that developed in a patient following cardiac surgery.
متن کاملProsthetic Valve Endocarditis Caused by Bartonella quintana
We describe the first case of Bartonella quintana endocarditis affecting a prosthetic valve in a person with no known risk factors for this infection. Bartonella should be considered as a cause of endocarditis in any clinical setting.
متن کاملProsthetic valve endocarditis caused by Pseudomonas luteola
BACKGROUND Pseudomonas luteola has been recognized as an uncommon cause of bacteremia and of infections in patients with underlying medical disorders. CASE PRESENTATION We isolated P. luteola from blood cultures in a patient with prosthetic valve endocarditis developed 16 months after cardiac surgery. CONCLUSION P. luteola is a rare opportunistic agent, with a propensity of infecting valvul...
متن کاملCorynebacterium CDC Group G Native and Prosthetic Valve Endocarditis
We report the first case of native and recurrent prosthetic valve endocarditis with Corynebacterium CDC group G, a rarely reported cause of infective endocarditis (IE). Previously, there have been only two cases reported for prosthetic valve IE caused by these organisms. A 69-year-old female with a known history of mitral valve regurgitation presented with a 3-day history of high-grade fever, p...
متن کاملEndocarditis caused by nonhemolytic group B streptococcus.
We report a case of bacterial endocarditis caused by nonhemolytic group B streptococcus (GBS) in a 67-year-old man with no predisposing risk factors. Nonhemolytic GBS strains rarely cause illness and are usually detected in perinatal infections. We believe this to be the first reported case of endocarditis caused by a nonhemolytic strain of GBS.
